Steps To Creation

Update:
After looking at a calendar the final delivery date of Monday, April 23, 2007 has been decided. This date leaves an eight (8) week window to create the book from beginning to end (completing 12.5% per week). The eight week period is ambitious, but will be a good test of my ability to work under a pressured deadline. Below I have outlined the major steps to creating the book.

Steps To Creation:
  • Organize content by chapter
    • Collaborating with existing tutorials/books/syllabae, content will be organized into weekly chapters.
  • Write Chapters/Projects/Examples
    • Each chapter will be written explaining the content at hand. Projects and examples covering the content discussed will accompany each chapter.
  • Create Demonstration Videos
    • Each chapter will have demonstration flash videos embedded on the site. All videos will be captures using Wink
  • Design Website Layout
    • Website will be designed in an easy to navigate and logical manner
  • Test Product with Users
    • Once website and content has been created, the book will be tested with users on levels varying from beginner to expert for comments and critiques.
  • Deliver Project
    • Final project will be delivered to Project Sponsor, Dr. Craig Piercy
Final Project Delivery: Monday, April 23, 2007

Purpose of JUGA Book

What is JUGA Book?
JUGA Book will be a free online textbook/course that will teach students the principals and basic components of programming in JAVA. The book will be presented in an online web page format through text, videos, and downloadable reference files. Students will be able to follow the tutorials (chapters) in any order they choose and access them at any time.

What is the goal of JUGA Book?
The goal of JUGA Book is to create an easy way of learning Java while in an online environment. It is my intention to make JUGA Book understandable to someone who has no previous programming experience. Ultimately, I would like to see JUGA Book become an alternative to the expensive required texts of University courses.

Why is it called JUGA Book?
Since I am developing this Java book while I am a student at UGA, JUGA, became the blended acronym for the project.

When will JUGA Book be ready?
The book will be completed by May 2007, but progress can be tracked here at http://jugabook.blogspot.com
